Model Train Maintenance and Repair Services

Service can call for hours of frequent cleaning, tear downs, and build ups. All of the time and effort is well worth it as you enjoy your piece of heaven! Regular maintenance can prevent problems down the road. At Locomoland, we offer the following maintenance and repair services.

Fix Any Kind of Locomotive

Just as the engine is the “front runner” in any model train layout, it may be the source of the problem. When you bring your locomotives here, we will test them and fix the problems. Our goal is to ensure the appropriate volume of power is getting to the locomotive. From this, we can know whether further investigation is required. You may find the right spare parts for you!

Fix Model Train Operations

In fixing trains, it is important to distinguish whether the issue is with one of the cars or the track itself. Test runs should help to narrow down the source. From dirt to bad connectors, we can help find the right solution for you.

Check All Electrical Connections

With a connection issue, we will check for any loose wires or rogue wires touching the circuit. Each portion of the electrical circuit requires special handling and precise eyesight.

Clean the Track and Wheels

As collectors know, dirt often is the reason a train will have issues. Running the train will also see oil residue and grease cause problems. If a stalling engine or a flashing head lamp raises a red flag, the wheels or the track itself may be the cause.

We will care for the contacts between the motor and the wheels to ensure smooth operation. In addition, if any layout work is being done, it may cause debris to be embedded in the undercarriage.

Check the Power Supply

The power supply to the train may have issues at the connection site or it may be the movement of the wiring. We can test your power supply for any bad connections not detected by the eye.

Fix the Track and Wires

The tracks’ wires are separated into a class of their own due to the complex assembly. The connectors could become damaged or dirty, especially if rebuilt time and time again. The fishplates give power through a cable. It is important to ensure the attachments are properly fitted.

Sale your Model Trains in Locomoland

Ready to sell your model trains? Thanks to modern technology, today’s collector market is more widespread and enterprising. Knowing what you have in your collection is the first step in preparing for a sale.

FACTORS TO CONSIDER BEFORE SELLING YOUR MODEL TRAINS

To start preparing, make a list of items you want to sell. Keep in mind, pieces made in recent years are not in the same valuable price range as one from your grandparents’ time. That being said, some of the modern model trains do have substantial value due to high-quality technology built-ins.

PRICE RECEIVED

As with any collection, you have to take your passion out of the equation. The price you put on the market should reflect your time and effort into the sale. You have put your heart and soul into your incredible railway models, don’t shortchange yourself for a quick sale.

EFFORTS

By effort, we are referring to the time of researching the story behind your item(s). Knowing the origin and any past repairs can add to the value. Researching the buyer can also ensure a smooth sale.

CONDITION OF YOUR TRAIN SET

New, or older, models of your collection need to be in the best condition to be considered at a high price. While having the original packaging may not be possible, be sure to have it clean and presentable. You’ll receive a better price with a working engine and no missing parts.

GET THE MOST FOR YOUR SALE

Now that you have researched and prepared your item, feel confident in your price. Whether you are selling in-person to a buyer or selling your model train set on a marketplace online, follow safe guidelines of the sale.
